The well-known PVS vacuum workbenches produced by the vacuum specialists J. Schmalz GmbH in 72293 Glatten are today used for production and assembly in thousands of companies – particularly in woodworking companies. The vacuum workbenches have become indispensable aids for the finishing and assembly of furniture components and other products. Since the suction pads can be replaced quickly and easily, and since there is a wide range of standard and special suction pads available, the vacuum workbenches can be rapidly converted for clamping and fixing many different parts.
The new vacuum workbench PVS-INNOSPANN offers even more flexibility: even narrow frames, slats and furniture parts can be clamped and secured very easily so that they can be machined from all sides without hindrance. This is made possible by the workpiece clamping system INNOSPANN, which is already well-known in the sector of CNC woodworking centres. Due to its modular design, this system permits easy construction of an optimum configuration for any workpiece and machining process.
The wide range of standardised clamping elements and suction blocks permits optimum clamping solutions to be constructed from the "construction kit" or from stock parts. The replacement of a PVS suction plate by another or by the basic INNOSPANN vacuum plate "Steel Plate" is easy, since these are held by a single clamping lever. Once the Steel Plate has been installed, one or more Mono Bases or Quad Bases can be placed anywhere on its surface. Grid markings simplify the precise positioning of these elements. All of the vacuum apertures are sealed by magnetic plugs. These are simply removed at the positions where the vacuum clamping blocks are needed, and the machine is ready to go!
Depending on the workpiece and the machining requirements, the Mono Bases and Quad Bases can be equipped with various standard vacuum cups, which are available in three different widths. This makes it possible to clamp parts securely with vacuum and also to provide additional support under narrow parts of the workpiece, which may otherwise be distorted during machining. Adapter rings also make it possible to vary the height of the Mono Bases and Quad Bases, which means that the standard INNOSPANN elements can still be used for workpieces with various clamping levels. This, in turn, means that no special clamping elements are needed. The height adjustment facility and the integrated swivelling and tilting mechanism of the vacuum workbench ensure that the workpiece can be positioned ergonomically.
