For users in the stone working industry, the vacuum specialist J. Schmalz GmbH in 72293 Glatten has developed a new generation of vacuum lifting devices of the VacuMaster Stone series. This device permits ergonomical and safe handling of natural-stone slabs, rough-hewn gravestones and other articles made of stone weighing up to 1.5 tonnes. The new generation consists of various models capable of handling loads of up to 750 kg or 1500 kg in a horizontal position and 375 kg or 750 kg in a vertical position. The vacuum lifting devices VacuMaster Stone are ideal for loading slab saws and other machines and for removal of the finished parts. In addition, they can also be used for many other loading, positioning, handling and installation tasks.
The modular suction-pad system, the swivel-mounted gripper, the adjustable suction pads, the locking function for horizontal or vertical transport, the special suction plates and a water-resistant filter permit flexible and reliable use of the lifting devices by all types of stonemasons and in other companies which deal with stone products. Depending on the articles to be gripped and handled, the device can be equipped with one to four suction plates of various types, arranged in various configurations. These suction plates, and the special design of the sealing lips, combined with the powerful vacuum generator, permit handling of stone slabs with rough surfaces or with structured ornaments.
For picking up slabs stored in the vertical position, the crossbeam is left in the previously selected position and the workpieces can be swivelled to the vertical or horizontal position. This permits the safe and precise positioning of the workpieces. In addition, the two ergonomical operating handles simplify the swivelling of the unloaded device and the precise movement and positioning of the load. The vacuum lifting devices of the VacuMaster Stone series are delivered as complete systems, ready for use. If desired, a suitable crane system is also available. The vacuum is generated by a generously dimensioned electric pump which needs little maintenance. During operation, a manometer shows the current vacuum value at all times. In the case of a power failure, the combination of the vacuum reservoir and the non-return valve maintains the vacuum for a long time and an electronic warning device provides the operator with an audible warning.
