Invitation to the trade fair Ligna+ 2005
For the woodworking industry, the world of vacuum technology offers decisive advantages. Come to the Ligna+ 2005 and let our stand team show you how you can optimise and automate your production processes.
At this trade fair for forestry and woodworking from 2 – 6 May 2005, you can find us on Stand B58 in Hall 26.
Due to their widely varying surface finishes, workpieces made of wood present a major challenge to vacuum technology. At the Ligna+ in Hanover, we will present our solutions in the sectors of vacuum components, vacuum handling systems and vacuum clamping systems:
Flat suction pads SHFN
New suction pads designed especially for woodworking applications.
2. Large-area vacuum gripper systems SBX, FX/FM and VacuBox - the best solution for your application
With the new vacuum beam SBX you can make your work processes even more flexible:
It grips...
sawn wood and building timber,
sheets and panels,
glued beams,
pallets,
warped planks
...with rough-sawn surfaces safely and reliably. Used together with an industrial robot, the compact SBX permits you to achieve maximum flexibility in your production processes.
In addition to the SBX, our range of large-area vacuum gripper systems includes the FX/FM and the VacuBox. To find out which is the most suitable for a given application, click on the following link:
Vacuum beam SBX
Dirt-protected check valves permit safe handling even when only part of the beam's surface is in contact with the workpiece. The sealing mats of the SBX gripper are extremely wear-resistant.

In spite of the holes in the centre, the door is gripped and moved safely.
3. Spring plungers FSTF with flexible holder - compensate for varying workpiece heights
The spring plungers FSTF with flexible holders for suction pads permit rapid and individual adaptation to workpieces with different heights.
Robust and flexible...

4. Floating suction pads SBS - low-contact handling of easily damaged workpieces
The floating suction pads SBS can be used, for example, for handling extremely thin and flexible sheets of veneer. The suction pads "float" on an air cushion and ensure:
gripping with little damage or marking,
safe handling due to the high volume flow of air,
no deformation of, or damage to, the workpieces.
Complete sheets of veneer can also be separated reliably with the floating suction pads. For more information on the floating suction pads SBS, click on the link below:
All of our products can also be found in the new brochure "Branch Solutions Wood", which you can download here:

Floating suction pads SBS
The new Schmalz SBS suction pads are ideal for the handling of easily damaged workpieces.
Vacuum handling systems:
1. Simple loading of CNC woodworking machines - vacuum lifting devices make your work easier!
With the aid of our vacuum lifting devices Jumbo and VacuMaster, you can load your CNC machines quickly, reliably and with little physical effort. An optional swivelling unit allows you to pick up workpieces in a horizontal or vertical orientation, swivel them by 90° and position them: maximum flexibility for your operations!
Our stand team will gladly explain which vacuum lifting device is most suitable for your particular applications.
2. FM gripper for the Jumbo - flexible handling of varying workpieces
The special feature: even if the entire surface is not in contact with the workpiece, the FM gripper can safely grip many different workpieces which occur in the woodworking industry.
The gripper is also ideal for gripping and transporting complete layers of wood. It achieves high holding forces even if there are gaps in the layer to be gripped.
FM gripper for the Jumbo
Apertures and gaps in layers of wood are no problem for the new FM gripper.
3. Clamping devices and transport trolleys - simple aids with enormous effects
Don't make your life unnecessarily difficult: our vacuum workbenches, work stands, paint-drying trolleys and transport trolleys are simple aids which protect your health and simplify your work.

On this bench, workpieces can be machined easily from all sides.
Vacuum clamping systems:
1. Suction blocks for more flexibility - for Italian machining centres (Biesse and SCM/Morbidelli)
With our wide range of new suction blocks and so-called adapter plates, you can equip CNC machines made by the above well-known Italian manufacturers with individually designed vacuum clamping systems.
The benefits at a glance:
very high flexibility, particularly for curved and narrow workpieces
more efficiency due to shorter set-up times
optimal machining conditions, accuracy and efficiency
wide range of suction blocks in many different shapes, sizes and versions
Our suction blocks have the same overall height as the original suction blocks, which means that you can either replace all existing suction blocks or use a mixture of original and new blocks.
2. Slotted-table suction blocks - ...nothing could be easier!
The new suction blocks for slotted tables can be equipped with various suction cups, according to your requirements. They are then simply placed on the slotted table, where they are immediately ready for use.
The benefits for you:
simple installation (insertion into existing table slots)
maximum flexibility
no more protective MDF sheets or expensive templates
The vacuum clamping system VC Innospann can be retrofitted quickly and easily on older CNC woodworking machines. Thanks to the modular concept, you can set up almost any desired clamping configuration very quickly.
Our Schmalz trade-fair team is looking forward to meeting you on our Stand B58 in Hall 26. The team members will gladly help you to find a solution to your individual problems. In many demonstrations, you can experience the advantages of vacuum technology.
