The curriculum of the Namibian schools includes computer training, but most of the schools do not have the necessary DP equipment for this.

During a stay in Namibia in November 2005, Wolfgang Schmalz handed over a laptop which was no longer needed at Schmalz to Mr. Cooper, Principal of the P.J. Tsaitsaib Secondary Junior School in Hoaxa-Nas. This was intended as the first step towards setting up a computer room for the 10th grade of this school. The teachers are already trained, the rooms are available, but there is not a single computer available to the students. This will soon change: Schmalz is donating 23 further computes and monitores.

Also 23 new English-language keyboards and 46 power cables suitable for Africa, have been purchased especially for this project. In addition to the normal use of the computers, the students can communicate with each other via a so-called switch, i.e. they can send each other information.

The computers have been packed in suitable wooden crates and have been send on the long journey to Namibia one week ago.

After completion of basic computer training, the students will have a far better chance of getting a job and thus earning their own living.
