Under the slogan "Social Day", the trainees at J. Schmalz GmbH, manufacturer of vacuum and handling technology, spent Saturday, 21.04.2007, renovating the Protestant kindergarten in Glatten.
The trainees were welcomed in brief speeches by personnel manager Martin Helbling from J. Schmalz GmbH and the pastor of the parish of Glatten, Johannes Götschke. The 46 trainees, a painter, several members of the parish council and the teachers of the Glatten kindergarten set to work. They repainted all of the rooms in the kindergarten, cleaned the windows and repaired the toys and books. And since the weather was so good, it was also possible to clean up the grounds of the kindergarten.
After a snack and a refreshing ice to motivate the workers, the final phase was started. Once the painter, Mr. Schneider, had inspected and approved the paintwork in the various rooms, the team mopped the floors and tidied the rooms. Finally, pastor Johannes Götschke and the kindergarten teachers thanked the Schmalz trainees for their excellent work, and the kindergarten children handed over some small presents as a token of their gratitude.
Schmalz paid for all materials needed for this action and will continue to support the kindergarten, as in the past, by donating fully functional computers which are no longer needed by the company.
