The Hama company is based in the Bavarian town of Monheim, Germany. They are successful in the accessories business and provide solutions for applications in photography, video, audio, computers, and telecommunications.

Their order picking process requires that cardboard boxes be taken from a modern high-rack storage area and sent to an order picking line. The cardboard boxes, which can weigh up to 25 kg, were previously moved by the employees by hand. Because they have to move such a large number of items, the company relies on short cycle times and fast movement. Their primary goal was to ease the strain on employees, thereby reducing the amount of time that employees were absent from work (due to sickness or injury). They needed a solution for all four of their order picking stations.

The vacuum tube lifter JumboFlex provided them with the ideal solution for quick and ergonomical lifting and moving cardboard boxes. The simple, single-hand operation allows the employee to scan the goods alongside the order picking process. This solution uses a double suction pad and is suitable for all types of cardboard boxes, glued, strapped, or open. Order picking at Hama is now handled by four vacuum tube lifters JumboFlex from Schmalz, which are installed at each of the four work areas. The advantage gained by easing the workload is therefore spread throughout the entire process.
The vacuum tube lifters are combined with an aluminum crane system SRA. Their especially large working area and easy-to-move aluminum crane rails provide maximum flexibility. The crane system is the perfect addition to their order picking process.
