CSL Behring is one of the leading manufacturers of plasma derivatives in the world. Their products are purchased by companies throughout the world. In fact, the company produces close to one-fifth of all plasma-based drugs in the world. CSL Behring is a part of the CSL Group, which operated under the names of ZLB Bioplasma and Aventis Behring until March, 2004. The firm employs about 9,000 people worldwide, 1,900 of them work in Germany. Their site in Marburg, Germany (Middle Hesse) is used for production, research, and development.
When they receive incoming cardboard boxes, every wooden pallet must be replaced by a plastic pallet. This is due to the pharmaceutical industry's hygiene regulations. Previously, it took two people to move cardboard boxes by hand, which weigh as much as 25 kg. The company wanted to make the work easier by installing a lifting aid. Their special requirements were the space constrictions and the limited room height in the incoming goods area.
The vacuum tube lifter JumboFlex is ideally suited for rooms with low ceilings. Loads are gripped and lifted using vacuum force alone. Due to its low weight and compact design, it can even be used in tight spaces. Moving the cardboard boxes is done efficiently and only one person is needed to operate the device. A 2,500-mm-long monorail is anchored into the ceiling, allowing for optimum use of the vacuum tube lifter within the available working area.
