The company General Solar is a wholesaler of various types of solar solutions. At their location in Ravensburg, Germany, the company operates a logistics center where up to 600 flat-plate collectors (depending on the needs) must be lifted horizontally from a stack and then placed vertically onto a delivery pallet.
The flat-plate collectors measure 1,200 x 2,200 mm (length by height) and weigh up to 50 kg each. Previously, two employees were needed to move the collectors by hand. Because of the heavy physical strain on the employees, managers decided to look for a suitable material flow solution.
The vacuum tube lifter JumboErgo 85 with the pneumatic swiveling unit PSE for loads of up to 70 kg makes it possible to safely rotate the collectors by 90° and then set them down. The vacuum tube lifter is equipped with a quadruple suction pad, which can be flexibly adapted to differing collector formats. The vacuum tube lifter is suspended from a column-mounted slewing crane SK. Due to a 4,500-mm-long jib and swivel angle of 270°, it covers a broad working area. This vacuum tube lifter completely fulfills the requirements of the customer.
