This VacuMaster was designed especially for handling quartz glass rods with a length of about 5 m. It is operated by two persons at the narrow ends of the unit who pick up the rods and can place them in plastic-foam shells. The rods are picked up by flexible bellows-type suction pads which ensure careful but safe lifting. The vacuum is generated by an external vacuum centre. A battery-operated warning device provides optimum safety during operation.
