Carina Urmann – Service Provider at Schmalz

I began my work with J. Schmalz GmbH in the Marketing Communications department. The training phase was very thorough and I quickly found my feet. A colleague was nominated as my mentor and direct contact person. It quickly became clear to me that I had a great opportunity to introduce my own ideas and fully realize my potential here. That’s really important in my work.

Within a few years, I was given responsibility for larger projects, where I had to plan and manage budgets, time and even project staff. My largest project here at Schmalz was the technical, design and content relaunch of our website.

I have been in charge of Global Marketing for a year now. This role involves supporting our subsidiaries abroad with their marketing activities. Whether they are working on trade shows, campaigns or adverts in the trade press – I’m their first point of call if they need support. Since my tasks are so wide-ranging, a high degree of self-organization, flexibility and creativity is required. They are vital for keeping on top of short-term and long-term challenges. I get to develop close personal contacts thanks to my regular visits to the countries. That also offers a nice change from the everyday office routine.
