Schmalz has been setting standards in sustainable management for decades. Honoured with the German CSR Award, the Green-Blue-Energy Factory Award or the Environmental Award of the State of Baden-Württemberg, among others, Schmalz manages to successfully combine economy, ecology and social commitment. In the Voluntary Ecological Year, you will work for one year in the area of environmental management and in building and operating technology. In addition to activities in the office, you will mainly support us through your practical work, e.g. in garden and forest maintenance.

Your tasks:

  • Maintenance of the outdoor and garden areas
  • Forest maintenance incl. production of wood chips for biomass plant
  • Updating the documentation on DIN ISO 14001 for environmental management and DIN ISO 50001 for energy management Forest maintenance incl. production of wood chips for biomass plant
  • Supervision and maintenance of our environmental technology systems and regenerative energy systems (wind turbine, wood chip heating, photovoltaic systems, solar collectors)
  • Maintenance of the eco-trail for the public
  • Compliance with and inspection of waste and raw material separation as well as cleanliness and tidiness
  • Independent preparation of evaluations and statistics for energy reporting and monitoring
  • Request for proposal and invoice verification within energy management
  • Participation in a total of five weekly seminars within the framework of the voluntary ecological year on various (environmental) topics
  • General support and cooperation in ongoing activities of building and operating technology

Requirements:

  • Age between 18 and 27 years
  • Valid driving licence (at least class B)
  • PC skills, especially MS Office
