Reaction to corona virus

Information for customers and partners on the corona virus

Schmalz takes its duty of care towards employees and business partners very seriously. We have taken various preventive measures at an early stage to avoid the spread of the virus.

Each Schmalz company implements its own protective measures, depending on what the local situation in the respective country requires at any given time. If you have any questions, please contact your local contact person.

Measures at our headquarters in Glatten, Germany

We initiated comprehensive hygiene measures at an early stage. Hand disinfectants are placed throughout the company, contact surfaces are cleaned regularly.
We strictly keep distance, we attach great importance to hygiene measures and wear mouth-and-nose-masks whenever necessary. All employees are equipped with mouth-and-nose masks.
Employees are comprehensively informed about current regulations and measures via a wide range of communication channels.
For prevention, employees who are able to do so work from home. Otherwise, we strictly separate teams.
We offer our employees the best possible flexibility, even because of changing childcare hours in schools and Kindergartens.
Communication via digital channels often replaces personal meetings.
Visits by our field staff and service technicians are possible. Of course, we also comply with all applicable regulations and hygiene measures.
Visits to Glatten, for example for product tests, are also possible if the hygiene regulations are observed.
Business trips to other European countries are possible under special conditions. Travel to non-European countries is currently still prohibited.
Our ability to deliver is guaranteed. We are in close contact with our suppliers in order to ensure our ability to deliver in the long term.

Our interdisciplinary crisis team examines and evaluates the situation very carefully in order to derive further measures if necessary.

Reaction to corona virus in the United States

Schmalz is committed to the health and safety of our employees, customers, distributors and suppliers, as well as our community. We are diligently monitoring the COVID-19 situation, and encourage everyone to follow the CDC’s guidelines on travel and other best practices.

We understand that COVID-19 has created tremendous uncertainty and put our generation before a great test. We all therefore share a collective responsibility to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Although our Company is not planning to close at this time, we are sensitive to the current situation and recognize our need to be responsible in helping to curb the spread of the virus. We are taking additional steps to keep our employees safe while continuing to serve our customers. We are actively monitoring this changing health issue and evaluating our response to it.

In an effort to do our part to slow this illness, we have implemented the following measures:

All of our employees are available via email, telephone, web meetings, and or video conferencing and will avoid in-person meetings whenever possible for the foreseeable future
Our office in Raleigh, NC has restricted visitor access, increased preventative measures in-house and is practicing social distancing for those doing minimal staffing in the office
Our Service team will still be available for emergency, line-down situations only and provide service as much as possible via remote support
Our supply chain and logistics teams are working non-stop to find alternative supply, or alternative supply routes as needed to access parts not in stock locally

As the situation continues to evolve, more information will be distributed. The management team will meet on a frequent basis to monitor the situation, and take appropriate action.

We are committed to helping our customers continue to operate their businesses during these challenging times and will continue to work non-stop to address each and every challenge as it comes our way.
