Grüezi from Switzerland
As part of her training as an industrial administrative assistant, Nicole spent two weeks in Schmalz Switzerland in May. Here’s her report.
“My stay in our Swiss subsidiary took place from May 17 to 29, 2015. The headquarters of Schmalz Switzerland is located in the peaceful region of Nürensdorf in the canton of Zurich. The small village with just 5,300 inhabitants lies between the metropolis of Zurich and the equally important industrial city of Winterthur. As well as Managing Director Christian Landis, six other staff work at the company.
It was fascinating to get an insight into everyday business in Switzerland, particularly from the perspective of a relatively small company. My work involved documenting the latest developments in online marketing for the company in collaboration with the marketing communications team for Germany. We introduced Google Adwords adverts to push our online marketing. I received a warm welcome from the team and they gave me fantastic support in performing my work.
I visited a number of attractions in Zurich and its surroundings to get to know Switzerland and Swiss culture better. I especially enjoyed my trip up the “Rigi” mountain with the Landis family. The region is full of unbelievably beautiful mountains, lakes and nature. I had so many new experiences during my stay in Switzerland.
