From the Field to the Cloud with No Configuration Needed

The platform-independent SICON Gateway connects IO-Link-enabled actuators and sensors from different manufacturers to MES/ERP systems and supplies valuable data from the production process to the cloud. The Gateway was developed by the company GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme GmbH (Association for Production Systems). GPS has been part of the Schmalz Group since the beginning of the year.

Gantry Robots Blaze New Trails in Timber Construction

48,624 wooden pieces make up the 2,308 square meter roof of the new Arch-Tec-Lab at the ETH university (Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule) in Zurich. The curved roof structure for this architectural marvel was provided by the company ERNE AG Holzbau. Schmalz acquires the GPS – Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme GmbH

The Schmalz Group is expanding: With retroactive effect from January 1, 2017, Schmalz has acquired all the shares of “GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme GmbH” (Association for Production Systems) in Stuttgart. Schmalz is specialized on automation and handling solutions based on vacuum. GPS becomes part of the international Schmalz network with 17 locations worldwide.

New vacuum generator from Schmalz: Creating a vacuum without compressed air

The electrical vacuum generator ECBP from J. Schmalz GmbH represents a new generation of intelligent vacuum generators that do not require compressed air. The ECBP has an integrated interface for connection to grippers and robots, and is particularly suited for use on lightweight robots in mobile robotics as well as for stationary handling tasks.

Schmalz at Ligna: Wood working enhanced by vacuum technology

“Making more out of wood” was the motto at Ligna 2017 in Hanover, from May 22 to 26. Workpiece handling plays an integral tole in commercial wood working. J. Schmalz at Interpack 2017: Vacuum Technology for Efficient Handling of Packages

From May 4 to 10, 2017 in Düsseldorf, Germany, everything will focus on packaging. J. Schmalz GmbH will be presenting solutions for automated and manual vacuum handling at the Interpack trade show. The highlights at booth A40 in hall 13 will include oval tubular bag suction cups for fast flow-wrap processes and silicone bellows suction cups for the food and beverage industry that can be detected by a metal detector.
