Vacuum technology is suitable for a wide range of industries and requirements: for the gentle handling of sensitive surfaces as well as for applications in harsh production environments. From the smallest circuit boards to the largest rotor blades for wind turbines, from light packages to heavy metal sheets: vacuum can be used to reliably grip a wide variety of goods.

The products of Schmalz are in demand all over the world: Customers include small craft businesses as well as international automobile companies. With the business field of energy storage systems, the company is building up a further pillar in the area of stationary energy storage.

Business Unit Vacuum Automation

Schmalz develops and manufactures vacuum components for all common applications. These include all elements necessary for setting up a vacuum system, such as grippers, connecting elements, components for system monitoring, filters, connections and vacuum generators.

Schmalz develops plug&work-enabled gripping systems for use in automated production, picking and distribution logistics. The gripping system is the hand of the robot.

Clamping solutions from Schmalz are used in machining and assembly tasks. Components made of wood, metal, glass or plastic are securely fixed with vacuum.

Business Unit Handling Systems

Vacuum tube lifters from Schmalz are designed for the ergonomic handling of loads weighing up to 300 kilograms. They optimise material flow processes that require a high turnover rate and speed.

With vacuum lifting devices, very large and heavy goods weighing several tons can be transported. For example, machines can be loaded with wooden or metal sheets by just one person, ensuring a safe and healthy process.

Schmalz plans and manufactures individual crane systems - as a supplement or as a stand-alone solution.

Business Unit Energy Storage

In the business unit Energy Storage, Schmalz develops storage solutions with which regeneratively generated energy can be temporarily stored and used as needed. The company relies on so-called redox flow battery systems for this purpose. At the heart of these systems are the stacks: they determine the quality and performance of the battery. Schmalz manufactures these stacks industrially at its headquarters in Glatten. A battery demonstrator is also available to customers and interested parties there, which clearly shows how such systems work.

In the business unit energy storage, Schmalz is building on a profound know-how in the areas of production systems, plastics and handling technology.
