Workplace Ordinance (ArbstättV)
The Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) is a central regulation of occupational health and safety law in Germany. It specifies how workplaces must be set up and operated in order to ensure the safety and health of employees. The aim of the ordinance is to avoid hazards and to design working conditions in such a way that employees are protected in the long term.
Companies are obliged to take the requirements of the Workplace Ordinance into account in a risk assessment and implement appropriate measures. In this way, the Workplace Ordinance makes a significant contribution to preventing accidents at work and promoting the health of employees.
Scope of the ArbStättV
The ArbStättV applies to almost all workplaces - from offices and production halls to storage areas. It contains specifications for the design of rooms, lighting, ventilation and room temperature as well as sanitary facilities, break rooms and escape routes. Ergonomic aspects also play an important role, for example in the circuitry of computer workstations or the design of standing workstations.
