Schmalz Energy Storage receives award at the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Prize

Renewable energies already accounted for almost 60 percent of the electricity produced in Germany in 2024. Wind energy, solar energy and the like supply a lot of energy, but not constantly. This makes reservoir technologies all the more important for storing energy when it is generated and retrieving it when it is needed. With its redox flow stacks, Schmalz supplies the central components of every redox flow battery.

The jury of the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award agreed and awarded Schmalz's scalable and electrolyte-independent stack a place in the top three. The jury confirmed that Schmalz is setting "new standards in stationary energy storage". After all, the redox flow stack from Schmalz is one of the most powerful of its kind in Europe. "A great award that once again recognizes our commitment to sustainability and technology development," says Dr. Kurt Schmalz, Managing Shareholder, who accepted the award from State Secretary for the Environment Dr. Andre Baumann.

Since 2009, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector has awarded the Environmental Technology Prize every two years to companies in the state whose innovative products, technologies and processes make a significant contribution to protecting the environment or conserving natural resources. Products or processes that are about to be launched on the market or have been on the market for no longer than two years are honored.
