Well cared for: the Schmalz Kinderwelt
Family and career must not be a contradiction. That is why the Schmalz Kinderwelt was established in 2013. There, our professional daycare mothers look after toddlers aged eight weeks to three years all day. In the spacious building, the children have the opportunity to really let off steam in two playrooms. In addition, the building has 1400 square meters of garden.
The Schmalz Kinderwelt is one of the many employer benefits offered by Schmalz to its employees. It is a cooperation between Schmalz, the municipality of Glatten, the daycare parents' association and the Freudenstadt Youth Welfare Office.
Laying the foundations for future specialists: the training initiative
If you are a special needs school leaver looking for an apprenticeship in the Freudenstadt district, you will have a hard time. The supply is scarce and the career prospects anything but rosy. For this reason, the Freudenstadt training initiative was founded in 2007. It trains young people to become metal finishers within three years. As a co-initiator, Schmalz was on board from hour one.
The initiative aims to integrate young people into the world of work and into society, to teach them social skills and to actively support them in their personal development. The success of the training initiative speaks for itself: To date, more than 100 metal finishers have been trained, and 90 percent are still in permanent employment, some of them at Schmalz.
Top training: Master's degree programs at the Black Forest Campus
In July 2018, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Black Forest Campus took place. Since 2019, the idea has become reality. Modern seminar rooms, laboratory halls, co-working zones, a library and much more have been created on a total area of 3,200 square meters. And all this in the middle of the Black Forest technology region, home to numerous world market leaders. As co-initiator, Dr. Kurt Schmalz established the Black Forest Campus together with other regional companies, the district and city of Freudenstadt, and the Northern Black Forest Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
A good partner creates new opportunities
Schmalz has been supporting local youth soccer teams since 2018. Before the start of the new 2023/24 season, the partnership was successfully extended for another few years. In addition, the former SGM town of Dornstetten-Glatten will in future play under the new name JFV Nordschwarzwald Dornstetten.
Schmalz has been committed to the region, society and, in particular, children and young people for many years. Therefore, the ideal conditions for a successful partnership were in place. Schmalz plays a significant role in equipping and supporting the JFV (youth football club) Nordschwarzwald Dornstetten. In addition to financial support, this also includes helping to organize seasonal festivals.

SCHMALZ INDIA
The company's own electronics laboratory is used by around 120 students every year. There they are able to learn about current topics such as IoT and sensors, microcontrollers or solar energy. In the German Language Classroom, about 80 to 100 students from first to ninth grade learn German every year. The room also has a small library with books and games in German.

Schmalz Italy sponsored new jerseys for the Scuola Basket Ticino youth basketball team.
SCHMALZ USA
Schmalz USA regularly supports various local institutions with donations of money and goods, including the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, which cares for children and adults suffering from hunger.
