Learn the Schmalz Vacuum Automation & Handling Systems product ranges and apply them on application projects
Design custom EOATs for material handling used on robots, gantries, and manual handling systems
Prepare dimensional drawings, approval drawings, assembly drawings and other complex drawings.
Work with the Applications Team to understand the scope of work for designs which meet and exceed the customer’s requirements. Implement these requirements on drawings sent to the customer.
Create new part numbers in ABAS and/or PLM.
Learn and apply local standard products and practices used for custom designed solutions
Support end customers, distributors, independent sales reps & company sales engineers with design support questions for the office and occasionally on-site.
Assist Vacuum Automation and Handling Systems engineers in testing projects.
Support local product development, which includes but is not limited to design, prototyping, testing, manufacturing and product roll-out.
Interface with machine shops to manufacture designed parts and verify their spec and tolerances with the created drawings.
Work with the Assembly Team as needed – provide design info and intent as well as debug support
Produce Operating manuals, pneumatic diagrams, I/O tables, and supporting project documentation
Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (like drawings, bill of materials, list of design parameters, and /performance guarantees) for future reference.
Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes, in collaboration with project manager to ensure consistent documentation of the project.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of third-party items and services database. Review and modify information with collaboration by Project Manager. Make data available to application engineers and project managers.
Perform cost comparisons to help reduce the cost of existing solutions
Be on customer site as required for review of design details as well as installations and run off support/service calls.
Other duties as required relating to CAD database management, PLM, etc.
Support other colleagues when necessary, including answering phones and assisting in assembly services.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing preferred)
Three or more years of experience in the design, testing, and development of new products
Proficient in 3D CAD; SolidWorks is preferred
Experience creating engineering drawings
Industrial Automation experience preferred
Superior communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, and function independently.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work.
Strong time management skills with an emphasis on professionalism, flexibility, and decided sales and service orientation as well as entrepreneurial inclination.
