Schmalz honored with management award

The prestigious award is presented annually by the auditing and consulting company Deloitte, the magazine WirtschaftsWoche, the financial services provider Credit Suisse and the Federation of German Industries (BDI). "We are once again among the best companies in a high-ranking competition. This is a great honor for us," says Dr. Kurt Schmalz, managing partner of J. Schmalz GmbH. "Sustainable corporate management has a high priority for us. We are all the more pleased that the expert jury honors our work in all areas."

Schmalz had already received the award in 2014 and 2009 for its sustainable corporate management. Since then, the family-owned company has grown strongly internationally, as have its sales and number of employees. "We see this award as confirmation of our commitment," says Andreas Beutel, Managing Director of J. Schmalz GmbH. "Product and process innovations, excellent working conditions and commitment to a healthy environment are our maxims. The award encourages us to continue on this path."

The award winners impress with professional management that uniquely combines strategic foresight with innovative strength, a sustainable leadership culture and good corporate governance. "Schmalz - like all winners of the Axia Best Managed Companies Award - stands out for its entrepreneurial excellence and once again sets standards in all key areas of corporate management," emphasizes Lutz Meyer, Partner and Head of Deloitte Private. "This ranges from the development of forward-looking strategies and innovative processes to effective corporate governance structures and a healthy corporate culture."

The award is aimed at German SMEs and family businesses with annual sales of at least 150 million euros and successful business development. Applicants must be convincing in the four areas of strategy, productivity and innovation, culture and commitment, and governance and finance - in a multi-stage coaching and selection process. The coveted seal of approval is only awarded to those who demonstrate excellent performance in all areas.

Due to the Corona pandemic, the award ceremony took place on a small scale at the headquarters of J. Schmalz GmbH in Glatten.
