Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV §14)
The Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV) is a German ordinance that regulates the provision and use of work equipment by employers and employees. The aim of the ordinance is to ensure the safety and health protection of employees when using work equipment. It supplements the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG) and is based on the directives of the European Economic Community (EEC).
Recurring investigations according to BetrSichV §14
Both ergonomic and technical criteria are taken into account during the regular inspection. Ergonomic aspects include operating forces, gripper and operating heights, fields of vision on HMIs, the accessibility of emergency operator handles and postures at the workplace. This improves not only the safe but also the ergonomic design.
The technical investigation of cranes, vacuum lifting devices and vacuum tube lifters is also crucial. Unnoticed damage can have serious consequences - from machine failure and destruction of property to personal injury. As wear and tear and technical advances affect the condition, regular inspections by qualified specialists are essential.
These inspections should be carried out at least once a year in accordance with the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV). This is the only way to ensure that the equipment is always ready for use and that it is as safe and ergonomically designed as possible for employees.
Examination requirements for ergonomics and human-system interaction
title="">The Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health takes into account the principles of ergonomics, i.e. both the body-friendly design of work equipment and human-friendly operability (human-system interaction). The BetrSichV obliges employers to design workplaces and work processes in such a way that they are ergonomic, healthy and safe for employees.
title="">Supplementary regulations such as the German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV) and the DIN EN ISO 9241 guidelines, which set internationally recognized standards for ergonomic workplace design and user-friendly interaction systems.
Inspection requirements for cranes and hoists
In addition to ergonomic criteria, the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health requires employers to carry out risk assessments and take appropriate protective measures. One of their basic obligations is to comply with the measures laid down in the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV). Various accident prevention regulations (UVV) must be observed, which define specific requirements for cranes, chain hoists and vacuum load handling attachments:
- Investigation in accordance with DGUV regulation 3
- Investigation according to DGUV regulation 52
- Investigation according to DGUV regulation 54
- Investigation according to DGUV regulation 109-017
