Specialist for Highly Textured Surfaces
Flow gripper SCG-HSS handling populated printed circuit boards.
Populated printed-circuit boards are a classic example of components that are very difficult to handle due to their heavily textured surface. J. Schmalz GmbH has developed the flow gripper SCG-HSS for just such a task. Since the gripper applies only minimal pressure to the surface of the workpiece, it can gently grip sensitive components, even if they have openings and low population levels. The SCG-HSS handles objects with positional and spatial precision. The Schmalz solution is suitable for small parts – multiple grippers can be combined for larger workpieces.
A pin curtain lets the new flow gripper adapt to the surface contour automatically, allowing it to grip different kinds of workpiece without any additional set-up times. The basic model is made from non-anodized aluminum, which makes the SCG-HSS particularly lightweight. It also features a compact design. The integrated vacuum generation unit is powered by compressed air and achieves a high suction capacity with minimal air consumption, which means the operator benefits from low operating costs. Furthermore, the SCG-HSS has an ESD-compliant design and therefore protects sensitive parts from uncontrolled electrostatic discharge.
