ReduCO₂ - Intelligent, climate-friendly energy systems
ReduCO₂ is an EU-funded research project that investigates technologies and concepts to make municipal and industrial energy systems more climate-friendly and reduce CO₂ emissions - with a particular focus on the heating sector. The aim is to implement the right solutions exactly where they will bring the greatest benefit.
The result is user-friendly software that serves as a decision-making aid for municipalities, companies and public institutions. It makes complex scenarios understandable and supports sustainable energy planning on site.
In the long term, the project aims to make the northern Black Forest a model region for intelligent, climate-friendly energy supply.
Energy Storage from Schmalz
The missing piece of the energy transition puzzle
As part of the project, we are relying on modern Energy Storage systems - in particular our powerful redox flow stacks. These electrochemical converter units form the heart of the stationary Energy Storage systems used in the research project. Thanks to their scalable design, power and capacity can be adapted independently of each other so that the Energy Storage units optimally support the efficient, long-lasting and flexible use of renewable energy within ReduCO2. Schmalz is thus providing the answer to the previously unsolved problem of the energy transition: efficient and cost-effective reservoirs for energy generated from renewable sources.

J. Schmalz GmbH joins the ReduCO2 project. This way, the vacuum specialist from Glatten is actively committed to minimizing its CO2 emissions in the long term. Along with other companies from the region, Schmalz has been part of the sustainability project of the newly founded H2BlackForest research center from the very beginning.
