Suction Pad

The suction cup is used to grip the workpiece in a vacuum system. It is therefore extremely important that the suction cup is perfectly adapted to the requirements of the workpiece. The decisive factor is the shape and material of the vacuum gripper. Schmalz offers a wide range of suction cups. This means that the right vacuum suction cup can be used for every application.

Suction Cup Materials

A suction cup consists of suction cup components (elastomer part) and a connection element. The elastomer part is available in various materials. This allows the suction cup to be adapted to requirements such as oil and heat resistance, as well as low-marking and food safety. The following material overview shows the key advantages of the different suction cup materials.

Shape of Suction Cups

Suction cups are generally available in round or oval designs. A round vacuum gripper is suitable for flat workpieces, while an oval vacuum gripper is used for handling narrow workpieces. A distinction is also made between flat suction cups and bellows suction cups. The low internal volume of flat suction cups allows the required vacuum to be generated quickly. Flat suction cups are therefore suitable for dynamic handling of workpieces with flat or slightly curved surfaces. Vacuum grippers with one bellows grip workpieces with different heights, with uneven surfaces or sensitive workpieces. These suction cups impress with their adaptability and the damping effect of the bellows.
