The path of the product - climate-friendly thinking
The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is the central measure of a product's climate friendliness. It takes into account the entire life cycle - from development and use to recycling or disposal.
Emissions are recorded on the basis of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and reduced through renewable energies, efficient processes and resource-conserving development. This makes the carbon footprint measurably smaller and reveals potential savings.
The life cycle of a product
The biggest lever for CO₂ reduction is already in the design. Schmalz relies on energy-efficient materials and reduces resource-intensive processes.
Short transport routes, recyclable packaging and sustainable supply chains help to lower emissions in procurement.
Recycled materials, energy-efficient machines, renewable energies and 100% green electricity reduce CO₂ emissions in production.
Globalized production chains and flows of goods pose a sizeable ecological challenge. As Schmalz is represented worldwide, the company relies on a sustainable distribution system.
The largest part of greenhouse gas emissions is generated during the use phase of the products at the customer's premises. With its particularly energy-efficient products, Schmalz ensures that the customer's consumption is significantly reduced.
