Ergonomics Award for VacuMaster Wood
Schmalz receives the ECN Award 2023: The VacuMaster Wood convinced in the category "Innovative Ergonomics".
For anyone who lifts and transports heavy goods, an ergonomically designed tool is extremely important. Schmalz has developed the VacuMaster Wood especially for woodworking operations to provide even better support for carpenters in their everyday work. Its low weight simplifies handling, its narrow shape provides a good view of the workpiece and its ejector is adjustable. This significantly reduces energy requirements, especially when lifting suction-tight workpieces. By applying for the ECN Award 2023, Schmalz is emphasizing the importance of supportive work equipment for the health of employees and wants to motivate companies to invest in health-promoting and ergonomically designed lifting aids.
The fact that the VacuMaster Wood is predestined for this was officially confirmed by the jury of the Ergonomics Award during the "10th Days of Ergonomics" congress in Friedrichshafen. The award ceremony took place at the beginning of March in the Zeppelin Museum. In addition to the design of the lifting aid, the experts also evaluated its user-friendliness. The VacuMaster Wood scores not only with its slim and weight-saving main body, but also with its user-friendliness. The comfort control panel supports an ergonomically correct hand and arm position. This allows the user to comfortably reach all functional elements to switch the vacuum on and off and to control the chain hoist and the pneumatic swivel cylinder. It is possible to lift both coated and vacuum-impermeable wooden boards with one device.
Even though it is light in the hand, the VacuMaster Wood is extremely stable: Its steel jib system is designed for loads of up to 250 kilograms and is available in various lengths - optionally also with cross beams for handling large wooden boards. Since the ergonomically designed lifting aid is often used in dusty places, it has an easy-to-clean dust filter. It protects the ejector from dirt.
Connecting science and practice
The ECN has been promoting the exchange of ergonomics know-how between science and practice for over 20 years. The presentations at the "10th Ergonomics Days" rotated around the key topics of ergonomics, artificial intelligence and product safety.
The VacuMaster Wood has been awarded - with the ECN Prize 2023 of the Ergonomics Competence Network.
