Vacuum tube lifter JumboFlex Battery for efficient handling of different types of car batteries

An energy technology company from Germany supplies car batteries to car manufacturers. A quality check is performed on these batteries and they are then commissioned for direct dispatch to the car manufacturer assembly line. Up to now, the commissioning was performed by hand. To protect the long-term health of staff and handle the batteries safely, the company decided to purchase a vacuum tube lifter from Schmalz.

The vacuum tube lifter JumboFlex Battery can handle batteries weighing up to 27 kg efficiently and ergonomically. The tube lifter can be controlled with just one hand using an intuitive operator handle. The JumboFlex also makes work over multiple hours much less fatiguing and takes the load off the operator's back. The tube lifter is equipped with a specially designed gripper for car batteries. The car batteries are not clamped on the side like in conventional solutions; instead, they are gripped from above with vacuum power. When there is a high density of packs, this allows the operator to pick up and commission all of the batteries in a layer. The batteries do not have to be arranged in advance.

The vacuum tube lifter JumboFlex Battery and its special battery gripper can be used to handle a wide range of conventional battery models. Furthermore, the use of the tube lifter significantly reduced the time taken to handle the batteries.

The tube lifter is completed with a responsive Schmalz aluminum crane system. The crane system covers a large working area and is the optimum ergonomic addition to the vacuum tube lifter thanks to its light weight.
