Bellows Suction Cups SPB4 (4.5 Folds)
- Diameter: 20 to 50 mm
- Material: SI (use in the food industry)
The packaging industry is one of the largest growth markets in the world. Packed items such as food, beverages and other consumer goods require a wide variety of packaging. Goods must be protected from spoilage, damage and contamination, while being presented in an attractive and appropriate manner. The food and beverage and pharmaceutical sectors have the most influence on packaging, and their choices are ultimately based on the consumer.
At the same time, the packaged items themselves have many different requirements for packaging materials. Solid, liquid or powdery goods require individual packaging materials such as bottles, tubes, buckets, cardboard boxes and blister packs. This means a wide variety of materials, machines and technologies are required for the packaging industry.
The processes in the packaging industry are essentially divided into primary packaging, secondary packaging and end-of-line palletizing. Vacuum technology from Schmalz is used in all areas of the packaging industry: in suction cups for putting chocolates into trays (primary packaging), in compact end effectors for placing filled bags in a cardboard box (secondary packaging) and in vacuum systems for automated palletizing (EOLP).
Suction cup materials suitable for use with food and beverages
The food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries have the highest standards for suction cup materials. Schmalz offers suction cups made of FDA-compliant materials. These materials can be cleaned with the standard cleaning agents typically used the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
Handling both rigid and flexibly packed products
The grippers have to flexibly adapt to different packaging materials. Plastic films can only be gripped by suction cups with particularly flexible sealing lips. Porous, abrasive cardboard boxes require suction cups with excellent sealing properties and particularly long service lives.
Handling blister packs, ampouls, vials and syringes in the pharmaceutical industry
Blister packs, ampules and vials require suction cups with small diameters. At the same time, the products must be safely moved or held in place. The broad range of suction cups also meets the high hygienic requirements.
Palletizing and depalletizing
Entire product layers can be moved automatically with a layer gripping system SPZ or the area gripping systems FXP and FMP. The gripping system doesn’t have to be completely covered with products. The gripping system can be adapted to the individual requirements of the process. In addition, the area gripping systems are so flexible that they can move different products without requiring a gripper change.
