Suction Spider SSP with vacuum area grippers FMHD for handling cross-laminated timber

Vacuum suction spiders SSP from Schmalz are designed for specific applications in order to automate handling sequences in manufacturing and assembly processes.

In this case, the user handles large-format boards made of cross-laminated timber. Eighteen Schmalz FMHD vacuum area grippers are used as load receptors. They are particularly robust and easy to maintain and are therefore ideally suited for use in sawmills, timber and furniture construction plants.

The suction spider consists of variable suction circuits with zero point shift, which are adjusted by remote control. In this way, panel dimensions between 6 and 13 meters long and 2 to 3.2 meters wide can be implemented. The suction spider can lift a maximum weight of 3,750 kilograms.
