We wanted a system that works for all workpieces in order to achieve an uninterrupted workflow.∼ Karl Schedler, Managing Director of Schedler Transport-Logistik GmbH

Vacuum Lifter From Schmalz Optimizes Logistics at Schedler
At Schedler Transport-Logistics, the manual handling of heavy and bulky parcels has been successfully improved. By using two Jumbo Low-Stack vacuum tube lifters on a crane gantry, employees can now place the parcels in low storage positions without bending down. This innovative solution has not only reduced the workload, but also increased efficiency and employee motivation.

Zákazník: Schedler Transport-Logistik GmbH
Schedler Transport-Logistik GmbH has been active in the transport industry since 1984. Schedler has 40 employees and around 30 vehicles in the DACH region, the Benelux countries and France. In 2012, the Schedler sun protection logistics division specialized in transport services for professional sun and weather protection systems.
Výzva
Schedler had to handle parcels containing awnings that were up to seven meters in length and weighed 200 kilograms for the customer Erhardt Markisen GmbH. After Erhardt had delivered the transport trolleys, the employees had to manually label the parcels with barcodes, sort them and assign them to individual tours. As Schedler works with several awning manufacturers at the same time, up to 2,000 parcels per day had to be processed during the season. In order to optimize the workflow and relieve the physical strain on the employees, it was necessary to find an ergonomically efficient solution for this complex logistical task.
Řešení od společnosti Schmalz
Schmalz implemented a custom-made solution at Schedler to overcome the challenges of handling the heavy and bulky parcels. The solution consists of an overhead crane system with a generous working area of 36 by 15 meters. This system enables the employees to handle the three to seven meter long parcels easily and ergonomically. The overhead crane system significantly reduces the need for parcel repositioning as it offers a large radius of action. The products can be placed directly into the transport boxes, which optimizes the work process and increases efficiency. Schmalz has installed two Jumbo Low-Stack vacuum tube lifters as lifting aids. The special version of the tube lifters makes it easier to unload the transport trolleys: when unloading the delivered transport trolleys, the employees can also reach the lowest level without having to bend down. The tube lifters are circuitried with multiple vacuum grippers that hold all delivered cardboards safely. Control is intuitive via a twist grip, which simplifies operation and increases productivity. Overall, the implementation of the Schmalz solution at Schedler has led to a significant improvement in working conditions. The strain on employees has been reduced, efficiency has been increased and productivity has risen.
