The handling of food products is considered demanding: soft, slippery and sensitive products in varying sizes are a challenge for automated processes. Take sandwiches, for example. At automatica in Munich, robot specialist FANUC and vacuum expert Schmalz, together with partners Bizerba, Kilivations and ViscoTec, will be showcasing a practical solution in which a robot with flexible finger grippers, rather than a human, takes over.

A special day at Schmalz: with immediate effect, Dr. Johannes Schmalz becomes the third member of the management board. This secures the long-term future of the vacuum specialist from Glatten as a family-owned business in its fourth generation.

Products in the food and pharmaceutical industries are sensitive and must not be contaminated. Vacuum technology expert Schmalz supports companies in the automation of packaging solutions. The goal: high productivity and safe processes.

With the new FQE-V, Schmalz has developed a modular, freely scalable gripper system for robotics. It enables workpieces of different sizes and shapes to be handled safely. Applications benefit from particularly fast project planning.

The readers of the trade magazine Industrial Production have decided: INDUSTRIAL Production presented 47 nominees at the end of the year. Schmalz came out on top in the material handling category with the matrix area gripper FMG and won first place. The award ceremony took place on February 27 in Darmstadt and brought together leading industry representatives.

The managing directors of Schmalz companies from all over the world gathered at the headquarters in Glatten for the World Management Meeting (WMM). One subsidiary abroad was particularly celebrated: Schmalz Spain received the coveted "Company of the Year" award.

At Schmalz's traditional anniversary dinner, 28 employees were honored for their many years of loyalty. But this time there was a special premiere: for the first time in the company's history, a 45-year company anniversary was celebrated - and the person celebrating was none other than Managing Partner Dr. Kurt Schmalz.

The redesign makes the vacuum tube lifter intuitive to use and significantly reduces the training time for new skilled workers.

Protection, decoration, function - coatings protect surfaces, influence their appearance and give them certain properties. FreiLacke is a specialist in colored coatings and relies on the ergonomically designed lifting aids from Schmalz for handling its shipping containers. Thanks to the individual configuration, they are perfectly suited to the task at hand.

Schmalz is strengthening its presence in Southeast Asia with the opening of a new location in Ho Chi Minh City. The modern office in District 7 serves as a hub for innovative technologies and excellent customer service and underlines Vietnam's importance as a strategic base for the region.

Schmalz was awarded the prestigious Baden-Württemberg 2024 Environmental Award in the "Industry, companies with more than 1,000 employees" category on Wednesday evening. At the award ceremony in the Neuen Schloss in Stuttgart, hosted by Environment Minister Thekla Walker, Schmalz received the trophy as well as prize money of 10,000 euros, which will be invested in further environmental projects.

Constructed in hygienic design, the new finger gripper mGrip from Schmalz meets the highest cleanliness standards. Thanks to its unique geometry, it picks up sensitive products such as vegetables or baked goods precisely and gently. This enables food manufacturers to automate their handling tasks with process reliability.
